Insulation Rebate
In Canada, insulation rebates are offered by the government to encourage energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in homes and businesses. Each province and territory has its own rules and incentives to help make buildings more energy-efficient.
Homeowners can claim a tax credit of up to 30% of the product cost, with a maximum amount credited of $1,200 annually.
There are aggregate yearly limits on the amount of credit that can be claimed for home envelope improvements, including insulation.
Bulk insulation products like batts, rolls, blow-in fibers, rigid boards, and expanding spray qualify for rebates. Air-sealing products with a Manufacturer’s Certification Statement are also eligible.
The rebate applies to existing homes that serve as the owner’s principal residence. New constructions and rentals do not qualify.
Some programs offer insulation upgrades without any upfront costs, allowing homeowners to pay for the enhancements based on a plan that suits their budget.
The Home Efficiency Rebate Program
The first step is to identify which upgrades are appropriate for your property.
Insulate your attic, foundation, walls, and exposed floors to improve comfort, save money on energy, and avoid moisture damage.
Draftproofing eliminates drafts while also improving air quality and saving energy.
for each high-performance window that prevents moisture and drafts
ENERGY STAR® certified hot water heat pumps use up to 70% less energy. Heat pumps that use the ground, air, or domestic hot water meet the requirements.
Boost the comfort and reduce costs by saving energy automatically.
Produce your electricity and lessen reliance on the grid. Solar panels and batteries qualify.
Protect your home from climate change-related calamities like fires and flooding.
